*Exhibition Overview
오로라(Aurora Borealis)는 로마 신화 '햇살' 여신에서 따왔다. 오로라는 태양의 강한 바람(태양풍)이 지구의 표면에 부딪히고 굴절하여 극지방에서 볼 수 있다. 온갖 흰바탕의 남극과 북극에서
오로라는 유일한 자연 색깔이다. 그렇게 오로라는 지구 전체의 색깔, 컬러 밸런스를 맞춘다.
르완다의 햇빛은 지구 상 가장 좋은 빛깔로 다양한 생명을 품는다. 언제나 완벽한 균형은 질투를 부른다. 르완다도 바깥 시기심 때문에 큰 상처와 슬픈 기억을 강제로 얻었다.
르완다는 아트와 색채로 복잡다단한 과거의 불균형을 달랬다. 우리는 이를 '아프리카 오로라(Africa Aurora)'라고 부른다.
전시 '아프리카 오로라' 는 아름다운 자연과 극적인 현대사가 얽힌 르완다의 기억을 다채로운 작품으로 펼친다. 각인된 기억을 표출하고 내면의 상처를 화해시키는 르완다만의 아트 방식을 엿
본다. 오늘날 세계 아트 시장이 주목하는 르완다, 한국에서 르완다 컨템포러리 아트를 처음 선보인다.
The aurora (borealis) is named after the goddess of sunshine in Roman mythology. The aurora is the result of intense winds from the sun (the solar storm) striking the earth's bare
surface. In the all-white polar regions, the aurora is the only color in nature. In this way, the aurora balances the color of the entire planet.
Rwanda's sunlight is one of the best on the planet, shedding on all life. As always, nature's perfect balance breeds external envy. Rwanda has also suffered great losses and recent
sad memories. So Rwandan artists are forced to capture the embodied memories, of what they have seen and heard, in color. The colors of the artists soothe the imbalance of human
life in the Rwandan sunshine. We call it the African Aurora.
The exhibition "African Aurora" unfolds the memories of Rwanda, a country that has experienced the most beautiful nature and the most dramatic human history, in colorful and
unique images. It offers a glimpse into Rwandan art's way of expressing imprinted memories and reconciling internal wounds. This is the first time that Rwandan art will be presented
in Korea as one of the most promising art field in the future.
